Take the Bonnington Youth Green Team challenge to
win big prizes! Use information the Green Team has gathered to learn about
local environmental issues and what you can do to minimize your impacts on
the local environment - then take action to be greener.
By September 21st, send us a written
submission (maximum 2 pages) that addresses two things:
1. Tell us about the things you have done on
your property, in your home, and the lifestyle choices you and your family have
made that address the following issues:
- water conservation
- wildlife/human conflicts
- invasive plants
- waste/composting
- forest fire interface
- public transportation
- energy conservation
2. Then tell us what prize or
combination of prizes worth a total value of $250-300 you would like to win
that would help you and your family take another important step
towards becoming greener. Be sure to tell us why this would be important
for both your family and the local environment. Some of the prizes available
include:
- a bear proof garbage can (value approximately $300)
- a 3 hour consultation with a landscape architect (value approximately $250)
- bus passes
- gift certificate towards electric fencing (value up to $300)
- gift certificate towards a compost container or materials to build a compost container that will be secured from large animals (value up to $300)
- or a gift certificate towards some other purchase that you feel would best help you and your family be greener (value up to $300)
The Green Team members with help from an adult will
review the submissions and select the winners who will be provided with the
prize or combination of prizes of their choice that total $250-300.
Prior to receiving the prize, all potential prize
winners must be prepared to meet with members of the Green Team on your property
to show them your efforts and allow them to take pictures for the website and a
press release. The winners will be announced via an email to the Bonnington
community by Sept 30th and through a press release to local media.
